Is community solar legit?

Yes. Community solar programmes are set up by state law and run through your utility: the solar farm is registered with the state, and your utility applies the credits on your normal bill. You can cancel at any time with no fee.

We enroll customers in New Jersey, Maryland, New York, Illinois, Massachusetts and Delaware. Community solar is not available in Pennsylvania or Ohio.

The discount applies to the portion of your bill the solar farm covers, which is usually most of the bill but not the whole bill.

Who we are

We are partnered with over 30 solar farms and have enrolled over 5,000 customers since 2024. We enroll more customers than anyone else in this space, and we know every detail of a utility bill, residential and commercial.

Who is the utility, the solar farm and the enrollment company?

Community solar involves separate roles. The utility delivers electricity and applies farm credits to the account. The solar farm produces power and provides account allocation and production information. Lower Your Bill reads the electric bill, matches the account to a suitable project, handles the enrollment steps and follows the credits. Lower Your Bill is independent; we do not claim to be your utility.

For JCP&L and PSE&G accounts the utility relationship remains in New Jersey; BGE accounts remain BGE customers in Maryland; ComEd accounts remain ComEd customers in Illinois. Central Hudson accounts in New York keep their electric connection and can receive CDG or Value Stack credits. Community solar does not switch a customer's electricity supplier.

Which questions let me check an actual community solar offer?

Ask which utility account the project serves, which farm is being matched, how the allocation is sized and whether the subscription charge appears on the utility bill or separately. Ask who handles a missing credit and how to cancel. An answer naming the utility and explaining the actual bill process is more useful than a general promise to 'save on energy'.

For Lower Your Bill enrollment, there is no signup payment, credit card, credit check or cancellation fee. We never knock on doors. Use the contact details you found independently rather than a number supplied by someone making an unsolicited pitch. Call 732-314-5010 to check a communication claiming to come from us.

How do I confirm the saving rather than just the credit?

Read the solar credit and its discounted subscription charge for the same period. The saving is the difference, not the full face value of the credit. Consolidated billing shows the entries together on the utility bill; dual billing requires reading the farm invoice alongside the utility statement. A second bill should be explained before enrollment, not discovered without context later.

The discount applies to the portion of the bill the solar farm covers, usually most of the bill. The allocation determines how much production is assigned to the account. Lower Your Bill reads actual usage to size it and publishes current utility discount data in the reference guide. We never claim a guaranteed fixed dollar saving.

What should a legitimate enrollment follow-through look like?

Keep the bill used to start the review and the first statements after utility processing. Credits appear within the next 2-3 billing cycles after that processing, not on a promised date measured from an advertisement click. If a credit is absent, stopped or building up unused, the bill and account details give the enrolling company something specific to investigate.

Lower Your Bill is partnered with over 30 solar farms, enrolls more customers than anyone else in this space and is known for the best allocation. When something goes wrong we go back to the solar farm ourselves to work it out. We do not hand you a phone number and leave you stuck between the farm and utility. Power outages remain the utility's responsibility.

What is consolidated billing versus dual billing?

Consolidated billing puts the solar credit and subscription charge on the utility bill. Dual billing puts the credit on the utility bill and the discounted subscription charge on a separate farm bill. Compare the credit and charge for the same production period to understand the saving.
